LOL I always question this myself because I make a alot of books and do not add pictures right away... but I always end up keeping some and eventually adding photos into them... so maybe we are all scrapbookers/Paper crafters lol!!

It depends on the book! As far as the animal style folio, my style back then I did not focus too much on this technique as I was still learning. BUT..hehe.. I would have to say short end being stiff going left and right should be the best for its proportions increasing the rigidity and stability of the book cover as a whole.
